Our friends over at ThisIsRC.com have posted a nice little Question & Answer article with Mark Pavidis, who this weekend is not in his native SoCal but attending the nationals downunder in Canberra, Australia.
The R/C industry is made up of many individuals. There are the influencers (pro racers), the innovators (designers and manufactures) and the legends (IFMAR world champions). Our special interviewee is one of the few in the industry that fall into all there categories. Multiple IFMAR, ROAR and NORRCA champion and one of the major forces behind AKA, Mark Pavidis has achieved a stature in our sport only few have attained.
THISISRC: How did you start in the sport and how did you know this would become major part of your life?
MARK: I got started in r/c cars by accident when my dad and I were into flying r/c airplanes at our local flying field. At that time my dad was not good at flying them only good at crashing them. The problem was it took so long to build a plane from scratch and the R/C cars we saw in the shop could be rebuilt if they broke. My first car I purchased was a Tamiya Super Champ. Awesome car even to this day. I knew from when I was a kid I wanted to do this for my job if possible.
